Hi. My family and I are planning our 3rd trip to Cancun and surrounding area this winter. Our last trip we went to Playa and seen how some of the poorer people are living. My children were deeply saddened by their conditions..so in the past few months have been saving their money and saving their own gifts to bring back to Mexico. I was wondering if you know anyone who might know someone who could stear us in the right direction to giving out coloring books, crayons, and some of the various other treasures my children have saved. I don’t know if we could upset anyone doing this either. If you have any connections, ideas, or suggestions please pass it on my way.
Thank you Amy from Wisconsin, USA
Hello Amy,
I have a few ideas but I just want to double check with some people that i know on what would be the best way to go about donating your “treasures”. Your children have done a very nice thing that I am sure will be appreciated by the children here.
Hello Amy,
Okay! There is an organization run by an American woman named Nancy, “Give a toy, get a smile”. They are totally legit and the supplies go right to the kids. You can try to contact her through their website. If that fails let me know and I will look into other ways but that’s the best place to start

Martha
Hello Martha,
Thank you for “crashing” by my blog. I had a look at your site, very interesting indeed. I will be sure to recommend it to my friends.
Just stumbled upon your website while looking for information on Rino’s. Moved to Cancun a week ago and temporary housing is down the street from the restaurant. I’m an American from Seattle that is married to a Mexicano as well. My son has gone off to college so we now live here to be with my stepdaughter. Only been to Cancun once before and my Spanish isn’t nearly as good as it should be after being exposed to it at home for 4 years now. Something tells me the immersion will help:) Anyway, super glad to see this site and people with a positive view on living here! Planning to go to the Cinepolis VIP to see new Harry Potter on the 19th. Ready for full steam ahead on the living in Mexico experience but so nice to have a place like this to come to:)
Mary Lou

Ashlie, I’m heading to Cancun (La Amada hotel) with some friends in a few days. I’m looking for a few nice restaurants and would love your top 3 picks. Expensive is okay, but a smaller place with great atmosphere and food is what we’re looking for.
John Gray’s Downtown and L’Escargot seem to be favorites – what are your top three?
Hello Andrew,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. My top three would be Mi Casa http://ashlied.wordpress.com/2010/10/07/i-died-and-went-to-culinary-heaven/ (downtown) Puerto Madero http://www.puertomaderorestaurantes.com/ Aguachilies Nichupté Poniente 17, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico (2pm-12 am A casual restaurant, always full, live music, inexpensive food. I also like L’escargot. There really are so many places to go to have a great meal. Check out El Muellecito as well for inexpensive food and a great atmosphere http://ashlied.wordpress.com/2010/02/02/dont-miss-out-on-el-muellecito-cantina-marisqueria-in-cancun/ I hope that helps. Have a great vacation!
Mi Casa seems to be exactly what we’re looking for. Thanks!

Hi Ashlie,
I am heading to Cancun from 27 dEcember for 2 weeks holidays. I am trying to get myself into Capital Morgan cabanas but I cant get their tel or email address to book the cabana for 2 people. I saw your blog about it but the phine number on the pic is not fully visible ;( Can you help?
Thanks,
Weronika
Hello Weronika,
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I am in Europe right now so I don’t have access to my photos or address book. I return at the end of November and I will look into getting you the number then.
Hi, enjoy your travel in Europe, it is indeed beautiful… nevermind the season
As per your photos form Capital Morgan cabans – the phone is not fully visible, but maybe you have some other leaflets or similar where you could retrive the info. I am worried to get there by cab from airport and find out that it doesnt exist any more or is fully booked! I have not found any other cabanas on the beach on Playa Blanca, but if you know please let me know as well.
Best regards,
Weronika from London
Hello Weronika,
Unfortunately I don’t have another photo of the phone number and I haven’t been able to find anyone with the number…yet. It was still open when I went there during the summer and I suspect that it still exists. There are not any other cabanas on that stretch of beach. I will keep asking around to see if I can get you the number.
Weronika—I have the number –9982042209 I believe it is a cell number
